Airsoft Gear
Solid Fox (from http://www.airsoftplayers.com)
This is just a second opinion to Paco B's already outstanding article, "Gear, the Paco Way". I suggest you read his first before mine.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
First, you need to have the basic stuff.
I suggest you get yourself a pair of BDUs, hat, gloves, and boots. Every person should have these.
Optional stuff could be like a scarf or towel to wear around the neck. Protects the neck from bbs and bugs, absorbs sweat, etc. A balaclava might be for those that want to cover their entire face. Also helps protect against bbs and bugs.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Next, what you wear over that. Your vest or LBV for example. I myself use the U.S. Enhanced LBV (Load Bearing Vest). I must say it is of excellent quality and usefulness.
Basically all you need to carry there is your mags and radio. I carry extra bbs in those 10 round paintball tubes which are pretty handy. An extra battery is good to have.
A small knife (or LARGE ^_^) is good to have, but I would check with your team first.
Water: You should always have some. You should have a canteen on your belt or a camelback on your back.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Other notes:
- When getting your gear, remember to get what appeals to you. Don't go overboard though, remember that this is airsoft.
- If you choose to carry a secondary you can where it anywhere you want.
- Extra everything (food, clothes, gear) can be left at the staging area. You don't want to make yourself bulky, slow, and a bug magnet. It also helps if you have an accident, falling down for example, you reduce the amount of things you could possibly break (gear wise).
- ALWAYS make sure your knife is secure. You don't want to fall down and stand up with a knife in your gut.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Like I said before this is just a second opinion for gear, please go read Paco B's article, "Gear, the Paco Way". I think this was directed more towards someone who already has all the stuff, but just needing help deciding what to carry. Hope this helps in some way.
